The RX-39487 was a scout sized vessel most likely operated by Humanity but fell in the hands of Capac Amaru and Splitsie. The ship was hit by a debris field which was later revealed to be caused by an explosion on the RX-394, likely RX-39487's mothership.
The RX-39487 AI is helpful but struck by speech problems and later corrupted by radiation from a gas giant. Thanks to Capac, it lives on in the body of Reggie.
The interior has room for a crew of two. There's a cockpit up front, then stairs down to an airlock and two cryopods, followed by a small cargo hold and a small engineering section. The ship seems to have been designed for a crew that is either in cryostasis or awake, since there are no sleeping quarters, which causes Splitsie and Capac much exhaustion. They added a custom sensor array up top in season 1 but lost it in season 2. On the bottom there are several magnetic landing gear.
Intended for space only, the ship was equipped only with Ion thrusters. After the crashlanding on the Desert Planet, Splitsie retrofits it with a hydrogen thruster which enables the RX-39487 to take off and land on planets.
Its FTL jump drive is defective all through season 1 and 2, and Splitsie can only barely rig it up for a risky emergency jump at the end of season 2.
